  • Is the check free and does it need an account?

    Yes and no: it is free and you do not need an OctoSpark account. Every visitor shares a small daily lookup budget, so on a busy day the tool can pause until midnight UTC.

  • Can a handle show as available but still fail to register?

    Occasionally. Instagram reserves some handles and hides deactivated accounts, so treat "available" as a strong signal, not a guarantee.
