  • ๐‘Œ๐‘œ๐‘ข๐‘Ÿ ๐‘๐‘–๐‘œ ๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘ฅ๐‘กItalic โ€” No italic digits exist, so numbers stay plain.

  • ๐’ดโ„ด๐“Š๐“‡ ๐’ท๐’พโ„ด ๐“‰โ„ฏ๐“๐“‰Script โ€” Decorative and the hardest to read. Keep it to a word or two.

  • โ“Žโ“žโ“คโ“ก โ“‘โ“˜โ“ž โ“ฃโ“”โ“งโ“ฃCircled โ€” Most likely of all to be stripped by a platform filter.
  • สแดแดœส€ ส™ษชแด แด›แด‡xแด›Small caps โ€” Phonetic letters. "s" and "x" have no small-cap form and stay plain.

Before you paste this into a bio

Screen readers struggle with it. These are mathematical and enclosed characters, not styled letters. Assistive technology often reads them out one code point at a time, or skips them entirely โ€” so anyone using a screen reader may not get your bio at all.

Platforms can strip it. Filters change without notice, and the circled and fullwidth ranges are the first to go. Paste it, save, then reload your profile to confirm it survived.

Search may not match it. A styled word is a different string from the plain one, so it can stop your name or niche being found in search.

Used for a single accent โ€” one word, a divider โ€” it is fine. Used for your whole bio, it costs you reach and readers.

How to make styled text for your TikTok bio

TikTok gives you the least room of the three, so the decision here is not which style to use but whether to use one at all. Type the line you want first, then see what a style costs it.

  1. Type or paste the words you want styled, not your whole profile. Anything without a mapping, spaces, punctuation, emoji, is passed through unchanged.
  2. Compare the rows. Bold is the most widely supported; script is the hardest to read and circled is the likeliest to be filtered out, and the note under each row says so.
  3. Copy the row you want and paste it into your TikTok bio.
  4. Watch the counter against the 80 character limit as you type. On TikTok the room runs out long before the styles do.
  5. Open your profile in a browser where you are not signed in, on a different device if you have one. That is the version other people get, and it is where missing characters turn into empty rectangles.
  6. Check the result on a phone held upright. The bio column is narrow, and the wider characters wrap it after only a few words.

What survives in a TikTok bio, and what it costs

Each style in the list is a different Unicode block with its own coverage, and TikTokโ€™s short bio makes the choice sharper than it is anywhere else. What is available, and what TikTok does with it:

  • Italic and bold italic have no digits anywhere in their range. Type a number and it stays plain, however the letters around it look.
  • The script and double-struck alphabets are not continuous runs. Letters such as the script B, E, H and L and the double-struck C, H, R and Z live in a separate block, so a generator that simply adds an offset lands on unassigned code points and produces empty boxes. This one uses the real characters.
  • Small caps are phonetic letters rather than a style, and Unicode has no small-cap s or x, so those two letters stay lowercase in every word you run through it.
  • The bio is 80 characters. That is the real constraint here: there is room for one clear sentence, and a decorative flourish takes the place of words rather than sitting beside them.
  • The username takes letters, numbers, underscores and full stops only, so styled text can appear in the display name and the bio and nowhere else.
  • Fullwidth characters occupy roughly twice the width of an ordinary letter. In a narrow profile column that means a short line wraps, and where it wraps changes with the device.
  • The same characters pasted into a caption are not the words anyone types into TikTokโ€™s search box, so captions are the worst place to spend this and the profile is the least bad.

What breaks when you style a TikTok profile

None of this shows up while you are editing. The profile looks right on the device you typed it on, and the cost lands entirely on people you never hear from.

  • Empty boxes: the characters need a font on the viewerโ€™s device that covers the block, and where it is missing the bio renders as rectangles.
  • Space: at 80 characters, styling the whole bio means saying less. The style costs you the sentence, not the character count.
  • Being found: people reach an account by typing a name into search. Styled text is not what they type.
  • A line break you did not plan: the wider ranges push your last few words onto a second line, which on a short bio can be the difference between one tidy sentence and a stray fragment.

When to leave the text plain

At 80 characters the honest answer is usually to style nothing at all. The bio has one job, saying what the account is, and there is not enough room to say it twice.

  • A single styled word in the display name is the safest use of this, because it is short and sits next to a handle that stays plain.
  • Keep the sentence that explains the account in ordinary letters. It is the only line most people read.
  • Do not style a call to action. If someone cannot read it, they cannot act on it.

Frequently asked questions

How this tool works, what it cannot do, and what happens to what you put into it.

  • How does this work if TikTok does not let me change fonts?

It does not change the font. Each character is swapped for a different Unicode character that happens to look bold, italic or script. Because the result is ordinary text, it pastes anywhere plain text is accepted.
  • Will it break accessibility?

Often, yes. A screen reader reads these code points literally, so styled text can be announced character by character or skipped. Use it for a short flourish, never for your whole bio or for anything a reader must understand.
  • Does TikTok strip these characters?

TikTok accepts most of them today, but platforms change their filters without notice and some reject the enclosed and fullwidth ranges outright. Paste, save, then reload your profile to confirm it survived before relying on it.
  • How long can my TikTok bio be?

80 characters. Styled characters count the same as plain ones, and several of these ranges use code points outside the Basic Multilingual Plane, which some platforms count as two. The counter here shows the plain length so you have a margin.
  • Is my data private?

Yes. This tool does its work in your browser, so whatever you type, paste or upload stays on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers, which is also why it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
  • Is this really free?

Yes. Every tool here is free with no account, no credit card and no usage cap. They exist so that the people who need our scheduling product find us, which only works if the tools are genuinely useful on their own.
  • Do I need an account?

No. Open the page and use it. An account is only for OctoSpark itself, where you plan, schedule and publish a whole calendar rather than fixing one post at a time.
  • Can I use the output commercially?

Yes. Anything you produce here is yours, including for client and commercial work. We claim no rights over it and we do not watermark it.
